Summary 2023

What an amazing year 2023 has been!

Firstly, we would like to thank every single angler who was able to make it this year despite Saturday flight schedule cancellations which meant we had to change holidays to Sunday – Sunday, Thursday – Thursday, or late evening flights from a different airport. Everyone has been amazing and we really appreciated it.

The weather was far more favourable for fishing this year and resulted in some record-breaking catches for us. We had an average of 30 fish landed per week throughout the year and who would ever think we would land 54 fish in a single week in August!

New lake records set for a Mirror, Common and Linear, but more on that below.

Multiple anglers achieved new PB’s … 74 in in total with the majority receiving the obligatory bucket(s) of water 😊

We are now taking a couple of weeks off before the hard graft starts over the winter, rain permitting because it has barely stopped in more than 2 weeks now but lastly, we can’t finish before recognising Wayne Potts and his achievements this year and the undisputed Top Rod of 2023.

Wayne is one of the group of the Liverpool lads who visited us twice this year. During his first trip in May, on big fish Thursday he landed our new Lake Record Mirror of 74lb 8oz, and followed it up on the Saturday morning before he left with the new Lake Record Linear of 50lb 8oz.

On his second trip in October and the last week of the season, he landed our new Lake Record Common of 68lb.

What a year for Wayne; great angling and also a bit of luck being in the right swim in the right week 😊

Thank you once again to everyone who has supported us this year. We are now looking forward to seeing our huge number of returning anglers next year, and quite a few new anglers too!

Take care and tight lines

John and Hazel
